At the beginning of spring, I begin to feel the intense joy of wedding season coming my way. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I know the high point of our season is from mid-July through early November. We celebrate weddings year round at beautiful indoor venues. Yet as the spring blooms begin to unfold in early April, the anticipation of upcoming wedding dates is often as exciting for us as it is for our clients. The Venue at Flying Horse Ranch is one of the unique venues near Colorado Springs that holds both indoor and outdoor ceremony space. Which is why I was elated to be a part of this editorial at the ranch on a warm day in March.
Now that spring is officially here and we are moving quickly towards an exciting wedding season, I am excited to share our inspiration for spring and summer wedding looks from this editorial planned by Brianne Leigh Weddings. The multiple set ups at this location allowed the creative team to showcase their talents in a variety of ways. Each set was stunning with florals from Kae Floral Co. The floral designs were absolutely stunning and enhanced each vision fully. This is why I cannot stress enough the importance of hiring a talented florist for your vision. We always recommend hiring a wedding planner who will help keep your day running smoothly and communication between each vendor partner flowing from beginning to end.
I love the clean details from the outdoor set up with soft linens, modern tableware, and pops of green in the floral arrangements. The barn set up was stunning set with the backdrop of Pike’s Peak seen through the barn doors. The barn has a warm interior, but I wanted to make sure to capture the pink toned tablescape in a true to life manner. This is one reason I love shooting film because it creates classic elegance no matter the setting.

As a Colorado wedding photographer, I have a list of my most trusted and incredibly talented vendor recommendations. The importance of a creative vendor team is vital for your day to be everything you are dreaming of and quite frankly paying for. I love creating during editorial days for fresh content, portfolio imagery, and my own creative process, but I often say yes to an editorial strictly to create and work along side a creative team. I want to know how they handle design, communication, stress and unexpected changes. A lot can go wrong on a wedding day, so I want to know I can trust the members of the team I am working with to support our clients with all they have.

For this editorial at The Venue at Flying Horse Ranch, I knew I wanted to join this day because the vision board created by Brianne Leigh spoke directly to my brand aesthetic. I wanted to expand my portfolio and shoot creatively again after the long pause we have all experience due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The day promised to be gorgeous with a sudden warm front in Larkspur. I saw each set up before the day began, and I was anticipating the opportunity to create beautiful imagery with the front range as our backdrop. The ranch is exquisite and showcases the entire Pike’s Peak region behind the main house. The views are breathtaking in any season. The gowns selected for this shoot are from Blue Bridal in downtown Denver. Blue is one of my favorite bridal boutique. They have a gorgeous line of gowns, and they are truly a must visit during your wedding gown search.

This venue is a mix of mountain elegance and western rustic that will take your breath away. The venue sits on rolling green acreage with sweeping views of the Front Range with pines growing along the edges of the property. The main house is beyond gorgeous and perfectly roomy for a large wedding party. If you are searching for a quiet, elegant, and rustic wedding venue for your Colorado wedding then look no further than the Venue at Flying Horse Ranch. The staff at the ranch is kind and welcoming. I have enjoyed every moment I have spent at the ranch.
The views from the eastern plains outside of Colorado Springs are a sight to behold. There are so many wonderful wedding venues in Colorado but the Venue at Flying Horse Ranch is something special. With Pikes Peak’s snow covered crest visible from the back porch of the main house and the entire front range before your eyes, we know that this breathtaking view will capture the mountain elegance of your dreams. We love that the views are wide and vast so that from every angle of your bridal portraits or wedding ceremony, you will be stunned by the backdrop.

We cannot recommend enough hiring a talented team of wedding vendors to fully bring your vision to life. The members of this editorial are all amazing, and I am so honored to have worked with them. Let’s chat today about your wedding date! I also recommend hiring a wedding planner from the start to help manage your planning details from beginning to end. Another vendor to hire for your wedding details is a designer who can curate beautiful pieces for your wedding vision. We love Kara Moon with Enjoué Studios for her inspired eye for design and beautiful tableware pieces that are sure to take your breathaway. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I am always inspired and blown away at the talent that our states has for wedding vendors. This dream team of vendors is sure to make your wedding day a wonderful experience for you and your guests. This editorial was a perfect day and allowed my creativity to sore after a long pause. I truly love this venue, and I find it is even more stunning in the summer and fall.
