Each year around the holidays, we emphasize Giving Tuesday with our hashtags, social media posts, and extra year end giving. I love this focus on bringing awareness to nonprofits around the world that benefit from an intentional day of giving. Yet, I want to encourage all of us from my amazing clients, vendors, friends, and industry professionals alike to extend Giving Tuesday throughout the year. I am excited to share how you can give back for your wedding day!
I would love to encourage you to find ways to giveback as a part of your wedding day, your business, and your lifestyle. In 2020, I joined Vow for Girls to support their mission to end child marriage. Joining in their mission has been the greatest joy to me and my work this last year and a half. Each season, we have the opportunity to look again at our core values both as a business and as a couple. Continuing to support wonderful causes like Vow for Girls and encouraging our couples, friends, and industry colleagues to do the same is so important to us.

Sourcing your food items from locally grown farmers and farm to table distributors is a wonderful way to give back and to create incredible meal options for your guests. Work with your wedding planner and catering company to find ways to implement this into your menu. You can do the same thing with your florals by requesting florals be sourced from local growers and nurseries to support the local economy. You can find florists who already implement this steps into their work, and request that the arrangements be donated to shelters, nursing homes, or other locations after your wedding day.
You can also consider donating your dress to a cause to a nonprofit like Brides Against Breast Cancer. You can also choose to work with Cocobundle as a way to have guests donate to charities when they purchase gifts through your registry.
Choose sustainable goods for your wedding details and ensure that your leftover food, florals, and other items are donated to local nonprofits. You can also spend part of your honeymoon volunteering. There are so many wonderful ways to start your marriage off on a giving note.
