Hi, I'm Jenna.

The Jenna Wren Timeline Guide

Create a seamless timeline that works best for you and your love story!

Fall mountain engagement pictures in Vail are some of my all-time favorites for our couples.  These sun-filled portraits of Alina and Dan were a dream to photograph. As we plan engagement sessions, I design your portraits to capture who you are inside and out.  We talk through outfit ideas and seasonality for your session to make sure we capture you in the way that you are longing for.  For our Colorado couples or those traveling here for a destination wedding, there is nothing like the mountains for engagements. Vail has some of the most breathtaking vistas, and in mid-September I brought Dan and Alina up Shrine Pass for their engagement session.

A fun little fact about this stunning bride-to-be, she was my student in high school! Right after college, I taught high school English for 4 years while running my photography business on the side.  For all of you trying to do math in your head, I was pretty young for a teacher. 😉 Alina was one of my sweet students in Colorado Springs, and I also photographed her senior portraits. She has always held a special place in my life, and I am beyond honored to have been a part of so many special moments as she grew up.  So you know I was screaming with excitement when she let me know she was engaged and wanted us to photograph her wedding.  I could not wait to meet Dan when we met in Vail for their mountain engagement pictures.  Alina described Dan perfectly, and I loved getting to meet the man who swept this beautiful young woman off her feet.  Next year at the end of July when the Colorado summer is in full swing, they’ll vow forever at the stunning Lionsgate Center in the Dove House.

Photographing their engagements on such a gorgeous fall day was a dream.  Alina and Dan were truly made for each other. I loved watching their giddy interactions and laughing with them as we reminisced about her days in my classroom. They both are travel enthusiasts and love spending their weekends with friends and a good game night.  Their faith and spiritual connection is powerful and their service to their community and church are an important foundation to them as a couple.  Steve and I relate so deeply to how important faith is to their relationship. Standing witness to their love story is truly a gift, and I am counting down the days until their wedding next summer. Their engagement pictures were pure magic, so I can only imagine how stunning their summer Colorado wedding will be.

We tucked ourselves away in the trees for the second half of their session, which was perfect for their cozy, casual attire.  I am certain that based on your favorite looks we will match the location to showcase your vibe.  The tall pines were reflective of their love of the pacific northwest.  Colorado’s landscape is so diverse so it is not hard to find a stunning spot for your session, unless you want the ocean then we will have to jetset. Engagement pictures in the mountains really are one of a kind, and the beauty of this area creates a unique environment for your pictures.  If you’re heading up to this area for portraits in the spring or fall, I would recommend triple tricking the roads leading up to Shrine Pass and other high mountain passes. Mountain engagement sessions are some of the best ways to enjoy Colorado’s stunning views while celebrating your time together. Colorado is a pretty romantic place, and I am always inspired by our breathtaking natural surroundings.

After the snow melts between June and early October, the Vail mountains are perfect for engagement pictures. If we are lucky in the early summer months, wildflowers bloom like crazy along the ridgelines and valleys.  And in the fall the leaves are often at peak in early October, which is wonderful for pictures.  At times, we have lingering snow storms that blow through even into the early summer months. No fear though because some of the most stunning engagement pictures in the mountains at times have a little snow.  It wouldn’t be Colorado without a little snow, right?

As you prepare for your engagement session, I recommend having your hair and make up artist do your bridal trial for this portrait date, or at a minimum bringing in a hair and make up artist the morning of your session.  Their artistry will not only pamper you (which helps you feel relaxed and ready) but allows you to refine your bridal look.  Every detail matters for your portrait session and your wedding day.  Our approach to your pictures ensures that the details are captured artistically, authentically, and fully; so we talk through how to ensure your details are fully represented before we begin shooting. Hiring a hair and makeup artist, purchasing designer dresses and chic custom-fitted suits, perfectly manicured nails, and your engagement ring sparkling from a fresh clean are a starting point for our couples preparing for their engagement portraits.
I could not have asked for a more beautiful day for Alina and Dan’s mountain engagement pictures.  Vail has my soul for my couple’s engagement portraits.  With a couple of months left in 2021, I am beyond excited for our 2022 couples.  Make sure to reserve your date for your wedding and engagement session.  As we plan your engagement session, I love to know what inspires you or how you two are dreaming of being photographed.
