Can we just start our summer planning already? We are in the middle of a global crisis with Covid-19, which has changed so may of our plans for quite a while. Yet, I know so many high school juniors are already excited about their senior portraits. Prayerfully, the quarantines will be lifted and we can all jump back into our summer plans. So on that hopeful note, I want to share a few fresh summer looks for our high school seniors.
- Flowy Pieces
If you are taking your senior portraits in Colorado or other locations where we have strong winds year-round, then I highly recommend using that to your advantage. Try selecting dresses, skirts, kimonos, or wraps for one of your outfits to show movement and flow. At different moments, I have my seniors sway or turn in circles to help the wind to catch the edge of your clothes. The overall look turns into something elegant and free-spirited, which I just love capturing.
2. Casual, cute, and comfy
More than anything else, I want you to be able to feel like yourself in your portraits. So don’t shy away from outfits that are casual and cute! So many fashion bloggers and influencers have found ways to dress up a pair of adorable joggers and a favorite pair of sneakers. If you want to add a little bit to your casual outfit, then throw a denim jacket over your shoulders!
3. All out glam
If you have ever needed an excuse glam up, then now is the time! Feel free to grab your prom gown or your favorite bold lipstick to create an over-the-top look for your portraits. With so many outdoor and indoor locations around us in Colorado, I’m sure we can easily find a spot that will show off your look!
One of the most fun parts of your senior session is the opportunity to show off things that interest you or hobbies that you love. Grab your tennis racket, your flower crown, or your easel and we can easily recreate your hobbies during our session. Summer is a perfect time to create your themed portraits because the sunny weather allows us to use our outdoor spaces fully!
5. Skirts and Shorts
Another great way to switch up your summer looks is to wear shorts or skirts with a cute top. You can always use that same top with jeans or pants later in your session. But while it’s hot, you might as well be cool and comfortable. If we are shooting outdoors on trails, just make sure your legs stay protected from branches and other sharp plants!
Let’s start planning your senior portraits! It’s never to early to pick your date and get those outfits ready. Send me an email by clicking on the contact page above!
